State of Hawaii Department of Education, Hilo High School Renovate Building B and Auditorium

AEPAC was tasked to complete a 35% Concept Design to derive construction cost estimates. The Hilo High School Auditorium is on the Register of Historic Places and is significant as the first high school auditorium on island and was designed and built by the Alumni of the School in 1924 at no cost to the Board of Education. The 80,000 sq ft 2-story building holds a 15,000 sq ft auditorium which seats 850 people, multiple classrooms and offices, and a radio station.

The project entailed architectural and engineering professional services. The building requires a complete renovation including an upgrade of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing, including communications, audio and visual, and life safety. The historic structure including walls, ceilings, floors, seating, balcony, and stage components including light and audiovisual equipment; renovate interior spaces including classrooms, bathrooms, stairs and circulation areas; Renovate building exterior; add addition on to rear of auditorium; complete cost estimate of construction. Hazardous materials survey, archaeological, civil, including fire lane access and full plumbing and electrical replacement.
